To me, and please send me nasty e-mails if you disagree, modern art is like a fine wine. Too much of it can make you sick. Today we went to the Centre Pompidou, probably the best modern art museum in Europe. It was great. The art was the definition of modern – edgy, provocative, and created after 1900. There was Picasso (my favorite), Miro, Jackson Pollack, Andy Warhol; all the biggies. My problem is that modern art is violent and unpredictable. It’s great in short bursts, but modern art can get heavy. If Renaissance art is like a church visit, modern art is like a murder scene visit. There’s often blood, nudity, and you have to figure out where everything’s supposed to go. Here’s some pictures – the guards looked at you funny when you took out your camera, but I snuck some in.
